LOCKYER VALLEY EQUINE PRECINCT
Tue 21 September 2021
Lockyer Valley Turf Club has been working as part of the Lockyer Valley Racing and Equine Collaborative, with an objective of redeveloping the current racing facility into the Lockyer Valley Equine Precinct. This project has many advantages for our club which include the redevelopment and design of the course proper, training tracks and onsite permanent stabling. When developed the Lockyer Valley Equine Precinct will be the first multi -purpose facility of its type and scale in Australia. Encompassing elements of equestrian in the centre field, while a full thoroughbred racing and training facility operates simultaneously. The new facility will improve track cambers, provide extended starting shuts and wider racing track. Providing the horses and the public safer access to view the magnificent horse work in the flesh. The redesign has tunnel access to open the centre of the racetrack, for equestrian use and elevated viewing mounds so the public can witness the hive of activity. The facility will be operating under a single operational management structure, that our club will be the primary part. The redevelopment offers the unique opportunity to provide a pre-Olympics training facility and a legacy for the sport and participants post Olympics.
The natural lay of the land and the geographical position of the site provides a perfect platform to design a world class multipurpose facility in the centre of South East Queensland. This project enables growth for the Racing and Equestrian industries for many years and the business case validates its sustainability from year 1.
